Privacy
Last updated 2026-09-18. This page is written in plain terms, not the site's usual voice.
This explains what The Ontology stores when you enroll at /enroll, why, and how to have it removed.
What is stored
When you sign in with X through Privy, we store: your Privy account id, your X user id and handle, your display name, your wallet address, your enrollment tier, the date that tier was last checked, whether you have opted into the Wall of Believers, and the enrollment date.
What is not stored
We never store your email address (X does not provide it to us), your password, your private key, your follower count, or any token balance.
Why it is stored
To show your Believer Card, compute your tier, run the public enrolled counter and Wall of Believers, and recognize you on a return visit without creating a duplicate record.
Who else sees it
Privy (our authentication and wallet provider) and X (for a one-time, and later a 30-day recheck, verification lookup) process this data as our service providers, each under its own privacy policy. We do not sell this data or share it with anyone else. A Wall of Believers entry is shown publicly on this site by design — that is the point of opting in — and only after you turn it on.
Retention and deletion
- Your record is kept until you delete it.
- Use "Remove me" on the enrolled screen to delete your enrollment record. Any Wall of Believers entry is removed the next time the wall refreshes, within about 60 seconds.
- Removing your enrollment record never touches your wallet. It is yours either way, and you can export its key from Privy at any time.
- You can also request removal by messaging @TheOntologyOnRH on X.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies of its own. Privy's sign-in flow may use its own session storage to keep you signed in; see Privy's privacy policy for how it handles that.
